After years of rumors and speculation, Apple has finally introduced their latest creation, the highly-anticipated smartphone/laptop hybrid device, called the iPad. As one of the most buzzed about products in history (literally), the iPad comes with all the bells and whistles that aim to live up the enormous amount of hype preceding it. The device is essentially an iPhone on steroids. Obviously much larger in size, but adopting many of the key features that make the iPhone so great and user friendly.
The iPad features a super-thin build, beautiful display, touchscreen controls, QWERTY keyboard, built-in iTunes, iPhoto, Maps, Address Book, the works. If you’re an iPhone or iPod Touch user, using the iPad will be a very similar experience, just on a larger scale. Photos, movies, iTunes and YouTube HD all look incredible on the iPad display, which measures 9.7-inches diagonally. At just .5 inches thin and weighing in at 1.5 pounds, the device is packed with WiFi, Bluetooth, a speaker, microphone, accelerometer, compass and 10 hours of battery life (we’ll see about that). Coming in 16, 32 or 64GB storage capacities, the iPad will be available at a number of different price points. Though the base model starts at $499, the iPad is linked to carriers like a cellphone, so depending on what features you’re looking for, the prices will increase.
