Passion Pit has established itself as band that pushes the envelope for our standard definition of electronic music. With their newest single, “Take A Walk,” they take electro-dance-pop to a new brink — and yet, their style always manages to remain laid-back. “Take A Walk” is the first release from their upcoming album, “Gossamer,” due out in July. Although the song has a breezy, summer feel to it, the lyrics take a dark turn, dealing with themes of financial struggle and alienation from youth. Passion Pit seems to remind us that their music is much more than synthesized chords (as if we had forgotten) — each song is crafted with lyrics that go beyond its electro-pop surface.
