Just in time for you to add another electronic to your wish list, Sony announces a new version of the PS3 at the Tokyo Game Show. The new system, which is set to hit shelves this fall, will be 20% smaller and 25% lighter than the previous model, weighing in at 4.63 pounds. According to Sony, the new slimmer PS3 console features a sliding disk cover, 2 x USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, 1 x HDMI Out and a maximum 1080p output. You will have the option of choosing between a 250GB model and a 500GB model.

The 250GB version will release on September 25 as part of a $270 gaming bundle featuring Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. Still no official word yet on when the white version will be available in the U.S., though. Sony also released word on their PS Store for PSM, which is a new mobile gaming platform that will feature “PlayStation-like” games for select HTC and Sony Xperia Android-based smartphones and tablets. The Playstation Mobile will be launched on October 3rd and will include about 30 new titles at launch. All this really means is that the PS4 will be coming later rather than sooner. Tell us how you feel about this new release below.
