Shepard Fairey and the Obey camp prepare the release of their latest print, titled Sedation Pill. The 18×24 print is inspired by the title of Fairey’s favorite Public Enemy album, It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back, and addresses what he believes to be the biggest problem in America: “the indifference and complacency about important issues that result from much of the population being perpetually hypnotized by conspicuous consumption, social media, entertainment, and self-medication.” Fairey believes that using sedation and escapism for relief from life’s everyday problems hurts us as a nation and leaves us blissfully ignorant and less empowered to improve our roles during our limited time on Earth. The striking black and gold prints ($45 each) will be limited to 450 pieces, each signed and numbered, and will release Thursday, January 10 at a random time between 10AM and 12 noon PST at Obey.
