On the first of this month, Santa Monica Studio released 30 minutes of footage of the highly-anticipated video game, God of War: Ascension. Today we give you the official trailer, along with those 30 minutes, to the game that will serve as a prequel to the trilogy, showing Kratos 6 months after losing his wife and daughter to Ares’ trick. Santa Monica Studio promises an unexpected and riveting journey that tells the dark and more human past of Kratos before he became the “Ghost of Sparta.” The visuals of the trailer are so well done that it’s hard to determine at first if these are real actors, CGI or both. Accompanied by Ellie Goulding’s “Hanging On,” the trailer depicts Kratos and his family at a happier time, however, as it nears the end we realize that these are the visions of a man gone mad.
