Washed Out is a one-man project undertaken by a young Ernest Greene in his Georgia home to make woozy, bass-y pop music. Freddie Gibbs is a rapper to watch for from Gary, Indiana. His mixtape The Miseducation of Freddie Gibbs (2009) features some great original production, some classic beats, and a lot of real traditional boasting, bragging, and rapping. He's being featured on Fader magazine, has gotten great reviews from Pitchfork, and should merit your attention. Here's a black-and-white video of Freddie smoking blunts and rapping about same (and doing so in Cadillacs). Enjoy.

Here's 4-piece band of 20-year-olds from Notting Hill in south west London. They self-produced a debut album of poppy, atmospheric, r&b-inspired, minimalist tunes whose simplistic perfection always conjures a nostalgic sort of romantic haze. They coo over tracks like Lykke Li, and they jam over basic riffs like Hot Chip.
